EcoForms: Earth friendly plant containers for a sustainable world

Our Story

We believe in the connections that enrich and heal our world. By building and nurturing these connections, we transform the lives we touch. The simple act of growing a plant begins a chain of awareness and caring that resonates far beyond a single garden.

The seed of our efforts was the founding of Sweetwater Nursery in 1977. For almost 30 years, we have brought organic plants to West Coast gardeners – exploring the secrets of each variety in our trial gardens, then sharing the best with customers.

Our growing commitment to sustainability led us to develop a line of OMRI-certified, organic soils and fertilizers. And that commitment didn’t stop at the garden gate: it inspired us to convert our greenhouses to solar power and our delivery trucks to bio-diesel fuel, a petroleum alternative.

But the continued use of plastic pots concerned us. Our search for an alternative led us to the resilient, yet compost-able, pots made from renewable grain fibers– today’s EcoForms™ pots. The use of these containers in our own growing operations has given us another way to reduce our reliance on petroleum products. Now we want to share what we’re learning with other growers.

There’s more work to be done. We invite you to join us. Together we can grow a more secure, more sustainable future.
