Our History

Based in Northern California, EcoForms is a family-founded business that grew out of the desire to find an alternative to plastic pots. The seed of our efforts was the founding of Sweetwater Nursery in 1977. For almost 30 years, we have brought organic plants to West Coast gardeners — exploring the secrets of each variety in our trial gardens, and then sharing the best with our customers. Continuing the use of plastic pots in our nursery concerned us. Our search for an alternative led us to the resilient, yet biodegradable pots made from renewable grain fibers - EcoForms™ pots. The use of these containers in our own growing operations has given us another way to reduce our reliance on petroleum products. The commitment to sustainability doesn’t end with our products. Our warehouse and facility is solar powered and our pots are certified Climate Neutral. With over 30 years of experience as wholesale
organic growers, our family proudly stands behind our eco-friendly products.

Our Future

Having been involved in the family’s nursery for as long as he’s been able to walk and talk, Jed Loveday-Brown decided to officially join the business in 2004 by taking on the role of Nursery Manager. Building on their history and success, he has been able to take this established business in new directions by providing a current perspective on the future of the industry. He recognized that making ongoing choices to increase the sustainability of the nursery’s operations was key to their continuing growth. Jed’s leadership is based on a lifelong commitment to environmentally sound practices that reflect new dimensions of innovation in sustainable horticulture. As part of this commitment, Jed and his wife took over the ownership and operations of EcoForms in 2008. We are proud to be the next generation helping to grow a more secure, more sustainable future.
